Unfortunately, We don’t get Thandai where we stay; hence I thought it would be great to share the powder recipe with everyone so you can easily make Thandai at home within 10 minutes. Many variations of Thandai are available – Almond Thandai, Rose Thandai, Mango Thandai, and Badam Kesar Thandai. We have made the original recipe today. It is organic and dry, easy to make it anytime.

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp Almonds
  • 2 tbsp Cashew Nuts
  • 2 tbsp Pistachios 
  • 5 tbsp Melon seeds
  • 1 tbsp Black pepper
  • 3 tbsp Fennel seeds
  • 1 tbsp Cardamom
  • 2 tbsp Dry rose petals
  • Saffron
  • 3 tbsp Rock Sugar / Sugar
  • 3 tbsp Poppy seeds optional

Ingredients to Assemble

  • 6 tbsp Thandai Premix
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • 2 glasses Milk
  • Ice
  • Almonds

Instructions

Premix Powder Preparation

  • To a mixie jar, add almonds, cashew nuts, pistachios, melon seeds, black pepper, fennel seeds, cardamom, dry rose petals, saffron, poppy seeds (optional), and rock sugar or sugar.
  • Grind it to a smooth powder.
  • Store the Thandai premix in an air-tight container and keep it in a refrigerator. The shelf life is six months. If you keep it in a deep freezer, the shelf life is around one year.

Assemble Thandai – 2 glasses

  • Add 6 tbsp thandai premix, two tbsp of sugar, and two glasses of chilled milk in a glass jar and mix it well.
  • Cover and allow it to rest for 30 minutes.
  • Then add a few ice cubes to the mixture, and beat it with a hand beater or a mixer grinder.
  • If required, you can strain it once. Serve thandai chilled topped with almonds and dry rose petals.
