Delicious Masala Chaas Recipe - Smoked Buttermilk(Updated)
Chaas is a yogurt-based drink popular in India. Though Chaas and Lassi are yogurt-based drinks, they are not the same. Chaas is more dilute than Lassi. Lassi is usually sweet and thick. Nowadays, lassis in different flavors are available in the market.Salty Chaas taste delightful, and salt is the primary and most common seasoning in Chaas. You can drink plain chaas with salt or masala chaas prepared with spices and herbs like roasted cumin seeds, black pepper powder, ginger, green chilies, fresh mint leaves, coriander leaves, and curry leaves, making the drink more flavorful and delicious. Chaas should be included in the daily diet every day after meals all around the year. Curd or yogurt has many health benefits and has a cooling effect on the body. People usually consume chaas during the summer. Chaas is packed with water, which helps the body recover from dehydration.

Ingredients
1cupCurd
½piece Green Chillies
¼inch Ginger
½tspBlack Salt
½tspChaat Masala
1tbspRoasted Jeera powder
¼tspSalt
2tbspPudina powder / fresh Pudina
Fresh Coriander
3Cups Water
Black Pepper powder (optional)
1piece Charcoal
½tspGhee
pinch Chilli powder
Instructions
In a pan, add 1 cup of yogurt or curd, half green chili chopped, ¼ inch chopped ginger, ½ tsp of black salt, ½ tsp of chaat masala, 1 tsp of roasted cumin powder, ¼ tsp of salt, 2 tbsp of mint powder, some coriander leaves, and 3 cups of waterTip* - Spices can be adjusted as per taste.
Blend all the ingredients well.
Transfer the mixture into a jar.
Place a small bowl over the jar. Place burnt charcoal in the bowl, pour ½ tsp of ghee, and sprinkle a pinch of red chili powder.
Cover the jar and rest for a minute.
Remove the charcoal bowl. Garnish with some fresh coriander leaves.
