Holi Sweet Recipes -Thandai Peda in 15 minutes(Updated)
Thandai is a traditional Indian drink made of nuts and spices prepared on Maha Shivaratri or during the festival of colors in Holi. Thandai is packed with powerful ingredients like Nuts, Poppy seeds, Fennel seeds, Rose petals, Saffron, and Cardamom. Thandai can be prepared in two ways, either through Thandai Powder or Thandai Syrup. Thandai has many health benefits. It helps to cool down your body temperature during the summer and is a tremendous protein-rich drink that boosts energy. It improves digestion and helps cure constipation. Further, It is also known to enhance immunity. Holi celebrations are incomplete without Thandai and Indian mithai. Both complement each other, So I thought, let us do something different this year. Why not make flavorful and delightful pedas from this Thandai syrup? Trust me; they taste so delicious you can't resist having only one. The kids and elders will like this mithai, and no one will believe you have made them at home. You can make these Thandai pedas in 15 minutes with just a few simple ingredients at home. These pedas are prepared with Thandai syrup that has a flavor of saffron, almonds, cashew nuts, pistachios, fennel seeds, rose, cardamom, and black pepper kick, which we all need in our Thandai. I have used milk powder to make this recipe, but you can always use khoya to make them, saving energy and time.

Ingredients
2cupsMilk Powder
8tbspMelted Ghee
1cupMilk
8tbspThandani Syrup
¼tspCardamom powder optional
fewPistachiosfor garnishing
Instructions
In a pan, add 8 tbsp of melted ghee and heat the ghee.
Add 1 cup of milk. Stir well and let the milk come to a boil.
Once the milk is boiling, keep stirring and add milk powder in batches. Ensure no lumps are formed.
Stir and cook on a low flame till the mixture thickens slightly.
Add 8 tbsp of Thandai syrup.
Stir and cook on a low flame till the mixture leaves the sides of the pan.
Transfer to a plate. Spread the mixture and let it cool for 15 minutes.
Add ¼ tsp cardamon for extra flavor. Cardamon is already included in the syrup, so this step is optional.
Pinch a lemon size ball with grease hands and roll it between your palms.
Roll again and give a cylinder shape. Place in a straight position on your palm and gently press down with your other hand. Now, give it a square shape.
Place the pistachio over the peda.
Soft, delicious Thandai peda is ready.

Notes
Suggest to use good quality of milk powder.
A good amount of ghee is required in this recipe to make soft pedas. Don't cut on the ghee quantity.
The shelf life is 7 to 8 days at room temperature and 15 days in the fridge.
