Simple and Flavorful – Onion Pulao,a Rice Recipe

Onion Pulao is a rice recipe made of rice, onions, spices, and herbs. Lots of variations can be used to prepare this pulao. A perfect dish to make if no vegetables are available at home or if you are in a hurry to make the meal for the day.

A simple and quick rice recipe in just 15 minutes, provided rice is soaked in advance.

The onion Pulao can be made in a cooker, but I like making the pulao in the pan. Every grain of rice standing out is the beauty of the pulao. The rice may sometimes turn mushy or soggy in the cooker due to the rice quality.

With easy three ingredients – Onion, tomato, and rice available at home, delicious in taste, no curry or gravy required. Make this pulao for lunch or dinner; enjoy it with any curry, a bowl of cold curd, or a boondi raita.

To make this simple onion pulao more flavorful and delicious, I have used a few dry spices, onions, tomatoes, rice, common spices, and herbs in this recipe.

Initially, the onions with dry spices are roasted until they turn golden, followed by cooking the tomatoes until they are soft and mushy, common spices, rice, and water, and finally cooked on a medium flame till the rice is cooked well.

You can always add carrots, peas, and cauliflower to the pulao to make it a healthy meal. I am sharing onion-tomato rice, which can be enjoyed with curd or raita. Always use basmati rice for making pulao. Along with the aroma and taste, every single long grain stands out perfectly, giving richness and a presentable look to a simple Onion pulao recipe. The rice for the pulao should not be overcooked.

This is a Sindhi Style onion pulao recipe. This onion pulao also goes well with Sindhi Sai Bhaji, a healthy, nutritious vegetable recipe already shared on the website.
