  • ¼ cup Frozen Peas
  • 3 tbsp Pure Ghee
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Whole Coriander Seeds
  • 2 to 3 Green Chilies Slit
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • 2 Cinnamon Stick
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder 
  • ¼ tsp Garam Masala
  • 2 cups Water
  • Salt as per Taste
  • 2 to 3 Garlic Optional
  • 1 Tomato Optional

Instructions

  • Take one cup of rice in a mixing bowl. Wash with water and soak it for 20 minutes.
  • Add 2 tbsp of ghee to a pan and let it heat up.
  • Once the ghee is hot, add 1 tsp of cumin seeds, 1 tsp of whole coriander seeds, one bay leaf, two cinnamon sticks, and 2 to 3 slit green chilies. Saute the mixture.
  • Add 2 to 3 finely chopped garlic cloves and saute them. This step is optional. 
  • Then add one chopped tomato and cook until it is soft and mushy. Note that adding garlic and tomatoes is optional. The methi pulao tastes delicious even without them. 
  • Add 1 cup of fresh fenugreek leaves and a handful of coriander leaves.
  • Saute for a minute on a low flame.
  • Add ¼ cup of peas, ¼ tsp of turmeric powder, 1 tsp of red chili powder, and ¼ tsp of garam masala.
  • Mix all the ingredients well.
  • Add soaked rice, salt as per taste, and 1 tbsp of ghee and gently mix all the ingredients well.
  • Add 2 cups of water and gently give a mix.
  • Now, let the water come to a boiling point. 
  • Once it reaches the boiling point, cover and cook the rice for 10 minutes on a medium flame.
  • After 10 minutes, remove the cover and mix the rice gently.
  • Smash a little rice with your finger to check the rice is cooked well.
